Mr. Chen joined Barrington Associates in January 2004. He serves
as the Chairman of Barrington Associates Asia Pacific. His
duties will include originating and managing trans-pacific
merger & acquisition, corporate finance, and strategic alliance
transactions. Prior to joining Barrington Associates, Mr. Chen
was President of MTC Direct Inc. MTC Direct Inc. is the world's
leading independent mass storage products distributor and a VAR
500 company.
From 1994 to 1997, Mr. Chen co-founded and became COO of Bestone
Investment Group, Ltd. Bestone acquired and controlled the
largest cement company in China and the largest PVC profile
manufacturer in the world. Conch Cement is now one of the
largest cement manufacturers in the world and is listed in the
Hong Kong Stock Exchange with USD 4 billion market
capitalization. Wuhu Conch, an affiliate of Conch Cement, is now
listed in China and it is the largest PVC profile extruder in
the world.
From 1993 to 1994 Mr. Chen was Chairman and CEO of Transworld
Consulting Group, Inc. (TCG). TCG provided international
strategic advice to leading companies in their sectors including
Ford Motor Company, Group Schneider, Best Western, Inter, Public
Group, Western International Media, Panda Restaurant Group, etc.
Mr. Chen also actively participates in activities that benefit
the community and society at large. He has been a speaker at USC,
UCLA, California State University, MIT Business Forum, China
Compass Conference, ACG InterGrowth Conference, and Chambers of
Commerce. He also helped publish the California Guide for Doing
Business in China, commissioned by the former Lieutenant
Governor of California, published "The China Watch", and
established a foundation to promote education in China's poor
regions. He also helped start the Asia Pacific Chapter for the
Association for Corporate Growth, a 50-year old organization
formed by professionals in the mergers and acquisitions business
with 7,000 members worldwide. Mr. Chen is a member of its
International Expansion Committee. Most recently Mr. Chen was
invited to become a Charter Member of the Pacific Council on
International Policy, the Western partner of the Council on
Foreign Relations.
Mr. Chen attended Shanghai Jiao Tong University and earned his
MBA degree in Marketing and Finance from Indiana University. |
